Emerging from the vibrant music scene, The Natives is an Afro urban music band comprised of two talented artists: DP (Bechem Junior) and Willy. With a rich history and a fresh perspective, they are set to make a significant impact in the industry.
DP is a seasoned musician with over 15 years of professional experience. He began his musical journey at just 13 years old, making his debut on a Monday show. As one of the foundation builders of the English music industry in Cameroon, DP has collaborated with notable artists such as: Daphne, Shura, Prosper Menko, Petit Pays, Ewube, Gash, Remii.
His extensive background brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to The Natives.
Willy is a rising star in the music world, known for his creativity in composition, singing, and production. After years of honing his craft, he has successfully carved a niche for himself in the industry. His youthful energy and innovative approach complement DP’s experience, creating a dynamic partnership within the band.
The duo met in 2020 and decided to embark on a musical journey together, leading to the formation of The Natives. Initially, the band featured four artists, but due to unforeseen circumstances, only DP and Willy remain. Their shared vision and passion for music have kept them motivated to push forward.
Their first single, “Marry Me,” garnered attention and showcased their unique sound. However, the band faced challenges, including backlash from collaborators, which slowed their progress. Despite these setbacks, DP and Willy remained committed to their craft. In 2024, The Natives are making a strong comeback with their new release, “Jamais.” This song is a collaborative effort, composed by both artists and co-produced by DPMixed. The track has been expertly mixed and mastered by DP himself, showcasing their dedication to quality and artistry.
